Finding Fossils

Fossil collecting is a great hobby. Here are some of my favourite links:-

• Discovering Fossils and  UK Fossils Network tell you everything you need to know about collecting fossils - where to find them, how to collect them and where to buy equipment.

• The Jurassic Coast in Dorset/East Devon and The Dinosaur Coast in North Yorkshire are some of the best places to find Jurassic fossils.

• South West Grid for Learning has some excellent children's learning games and fossil resources for teachers.

• Junior Geo gives you the chance to send in your fossil pictures and have them identified.

• BBC Dinosaurs brings the dinosaurs to life with some great movies and animations.

Time Travel

 

Think time travel is impossible?

"Heavier-than-air flying machines are impossible,"  wrote one of the world's greatest scientists, Lord Kelvin, in 1895.

We have come a long way in 100 years - how far can we go in the next 100?

• Science News for Kids - is a great general science site for kids. There's news, games and puzzles.

• NASA for Kids has an interesting article about whether time travel is possible.  There are plenty of games on the site too!

Supercomputers, Artificial Intelligence and Robots

 

Will computers ever be as intelligent as people? Over 50 years ago the mathematician Alan Turing proposed a test - could a computer in a chat room ever fool a human into believing it was human? Find out how close computers are to passing the test at the BBC report on the Turing Test. Here are some other great robot sites:-
